SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) — Missouri Sun Solar is a rising star in the energy business.
New orders for solar panel installations are streaming in as steady as light from the sun.
The company was founded in 2012 with two employees, they’ve now flared to 130 employees.
INC magazine ranks MSS, founded in Houston Missouri, number 156 among the 5,000 fastest growing private businesses in the country.
They rank #2 of all Missouri companies and #9 among all energy companies.
“Yeah we’ve experienced 2,300% growth since 2013. So it’s been a really fun, exciting, wild ride,” says founder and CEO Caleb Arthur, as he beams with pride.
Arthur says he never imagined this burst of growth.
“At first I thought I’ll be happy if I can install just one or two systems a month, and since January this year we’ve installed almost 700 systems so as you can see, it’s kind of just, I’m still in shock, I’m still in that phase of it just feels too good to be true it just has happened so fast,” says Arthur.
Last year, MSS had $9.8 million in sales, a number Arthur says they’ve already eclipsed this year, with over $18 million in sales.
On Saturday, at Farmer’s Park, they held an installation demonstration. The company offers free consultations to see if you can save some green by being green.
Arthur says falling prices combined with financing, tax credits, and other incentives make it surprisingly affordable to go solar.
School districts like Greenfield and businesses like O’Reilly and Mercy are their biggest customers.
“The Ozarks for some reason really enjoys and believes in solar panels and sustainability and that’s helped us grow to what we see today,” says Arthur.
GigSalad, an advertising/marketing company in Springfield also made the INC 5000 list, they ranked #690.
